We are offering newcomers and expert users mutiple resources for learning DIVA 4.0. Our assumption is that beginning DIVA users have same basic knowledge of Daylighting and Building Energy Modeling at the level of an introductory building science class. Free online material can - for example - be found under MIT Open Courseware Daylighting. The theoretical basis for DIVA is described in the Daylighting Handbook. Basic experience with Rhinoceros 3d modeling is a prerequisite for using DIVA.
To get started, please refer to our free video tutorial series below. You can also consult the extensive DIVA User Guide, post questions to our Discussion Forum and/or join us for our annual DIVA DAY symposium. In addition, we offer on-site training and can deliver a standard full or half-day course with a hands-on walkthrough of DIVA-for-Rhino's functions or tailor a course to fit your company's projects and work flows. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with inquiries.
PrimersIf reading is your preferred way of learning DIVA for Rhino then you may find the DIVA and Archsim Primers a useful reference. They provide detailed documentation on installation, the user interface and concepts of daylight and energy modeling with DIVA. You can read online or download the primers as PDF.
Rhino Tutorials For those familiar with Rhinoceros, the MIT Sustianble Design Lab has developed a series of DIVA Rhino tutorials. The tutorials range from basic RADIANCE visualizations to integrated dynamic shading analysis, electric lighting studies and simple integrated daylighting-thermal simulations in Daysim-EnergyPlus.
Grasshopper Tutorials For users who are also familiar with Rhino's Grasshopper plug-in, we now also offer fourteen video tutorials that range from basis RADIANCE visualizations to integrated dynamic shading analysis, multi-zone thermal modeling and fully integrated daylighting-thermal simulations in Daysim-EnergyPlus.
Workshops We offer on-site training and can deliver a standard full or half-day course with a hands-on walkthrough of DIVA-for-Rhino's functions or tailor a course to fit your company's projects and work flows.
